A short stay that can change everything

Our adult crisis stabilization program is a short-term residential stay — typically 3 to 5 days — designed to help you move through a mental health crisis in a safe, structured environment. This isn't a hospital. It's a calm, home-like setting where you're surrounded by people who genuinely care about what you're going through.

During your stay, you'll work one-on-one with licensed therapists and crisis intervention specialists. Together, you'll build coping strategies, begin to process what brought you here, and create a plan for what comes next. We're available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — because crisis doesn't keep business hours.

This program is open to all adult Iowans, and it's completely free — there's no cost to you. You don't need to have it all figured out before you reach out. That's what we're here for.

What you can expect during your stay

Every day is designed to help you feel a little more grounded than the day before.

Clinical Support

During your stay, you'll meet with a licensed member of our clinical team to complete an initial assessment, participate in brief daily check-ins, and discuss recommendations and resources to support your continued well-being.

Daily Skill Development

One-on-one time with a Crisis Intervention Specialist focused on building practical skills you can use during and after your stay.

Tools & Resources

Together we'll find what works for you — practical, evidence-based tools and resources you can carry with you long after you leave.

Group Sessions

Daily group activities covering goal setting, coping skills, meditation, grounding techniques, and life skills — in a supportive peer environment.

What we ask of you

This is your time to focus entirely on yourself. We ask that you stay on-site for the duration of your stay so you can fully settle into the rhythm of the program without outside pressures pulling you back. That means committing to daily sessions — both one-on-one and group — and showing up as honestly as you can, even when it's hard.

We don't expect perfection. We expect effort. Some days that will look like a breakthrough, and some days it will look like just getting through. Both matter. Your willingness to participate is the most important thing you bring with you.
